[From] Shall Not Be Questioned ( http://www.pagunblog.com/2012/09/12/on-the-late-conflagration-in-north-africa/ ):

On the Late Conflagration in North Africa

I don’t think anyone’s religion should be above criticism, but there’s criticism, and there’s throwing a match on a gasoline soaked keg of powder, by doing it in a way that is bound to be deeply offensive. Eugene Volokh has a link to the poorly acted, low-budget film that lit the fuse ( http://xrl.us/bnppp8 ). It is critical, but in a deliberately provocative way. Imagine how strong Christians would react to a depiction of Jesus going down on Mary Magdalene? You can bet the reaction would be non-violent, but I wouldn’t blame them for being just as deeply offended as many Muslims will no doubt be upon seeing this video.

I just don’t get this attitude. [Neither do I --∆∆]

The attempt to be “reasonable.” The notion that Muslims have a point in waging war on us (yes, invading our embassies and murdering our ambassadors are acts of war, a point almost entirely unmentioned in the reporting on these incidents so far), over their being offended by a movie they don’t like.

Turn it around. I’m offended by these acts of war, and the tens of thousands of other acts of war, terrorism, and slaughter committed by Muslim jihadis against us and our allies over the years. So I would expect the moderates to be quite understanding at my approach of nuking the 100 largest Muslim cities, along with Mecca and Medina, because I have been offended.

After all, the fact that I’ve been offended explains and excuses all, right?

If not, then why the hell do you people keep bringing it up as if it does?

From where I sit, those morons who would self-censor First Amendment guaranteed liberties in order to avoid offending others are enemies of liberty itself. The most “offensive” examples of the exercise of these liberties are the canaries in the coal mine, and attempting to abridge them is the first step of a short and steep slide down to tyranny.
