Major Nidal Hasan's lawyers say the beard is an expression of his Muslim faith, but army regulations state that soldiers must be clean shaven.

...shooting up his fellow soldiers is an expression of his Muslim faith too, and that ain't alright either. Iffen I was king, I would ask him if he wanted to shave or if he wanted the comrades of some of the folks he killed to shave him.
