Is 'Dont-tread-on-me' a credible source for what actually happened ?
The long term conservative - not whacked out conservative, but folks like you and I - that's what I call credible sources. Brietbart hypes a bit - but I consider a source like them to be credible.
Everything I saw posted last night was based on the mother's 'interview' on that show - While she may have been telling the truth - don't know her from adam.
As for the two sources you mention - mentions by them would actually LOWER the credibility - lack of information, indeed, mis-information from them.

Was NOT trying to give YOU a hard time about any of this, Due - appreciate the heads-up on a story that definitely is NOT making any of the news outlets - not even the minor ones. The only reason for mentioning the RP stuff was that last night, they seemed to be primary source for any info at all on the issue - and their info was based on what the mother had said on air - they really had nothing to add.
What to believe anymore ? Beats me.
