Micro, you're right, I read it wrong, I must have been worn out. Should have known better. A quad? Really! A comma would have helped. Anyhow, I looked at my Dell records, because I couldn't see memory listed on Device Manager. Maybe I have none!

These are the Dell specs on my system:

RAMBUS INLINE MEMORY MODULE..., 512, 533MHZ, 256X16, 16C

PROCESSOR..., 80532, 2.4G, 512K, 533, SOCKET N..., C1

I'm concerned I might have a hardware problem. I get a low voltage message on boot. I replaced the system battery to no avail. Do you guys know if that means I need to replace the power supply?

HI LInda,

Nah, it's not a quad core. It is just a Pentium 4 single core processor. In fact it takes RDRam.

You should have $ memory slots on that computer. You say you have only 1 GB of RAM?

I would hope that means you have TWO slots filled with one stick of 512 MB RAM for a total of 1 GB

This means you should have TWO OPEN slots to put two more sticks in, thus doubling your RAM (memory from 1 to 2)

That is $50.00 to buy from AMAZON.com

Ultimately you will want to improve your computer as the processor is very old and is relatively slow and likely overworked.
It has only a single processing core and not much ram, which is going to cause lag times and slow performance, which leads to annoyance and frustrations.

BUT, for FIFTY buck you should be able to add one more GB of ram to your system, assuming two slots are left open.

the best,

micro...
