Get WebRoot's Secure Anywhere Complete, or at minimum Webroot's S/A Antivirus. It's lightning fast, very effective and perfect for non-techies.

Stop screwing around with stuff you understand only superficially. Spend the bucks and get properly protected.

Due,

Out of the blue, my usual cspan icon changed to that of the Jihad Watch site, which I don't have an icon for on the desktop, but I think I once did. I searched for all the icons and found and deleted the offensive "moon." How it got attached to the cspan desktop icon, I don't know.

My volume control down in the system tray has been muting itself for, I don't know, a month or two, also. I wonder if someone could be getting into my system, somehow, but I'm not sure how to find it.

My spyware program recently came up with: Win32.Worm.AutoIt [Trojan Horse]
I don't know what that does, but I thought I was rid of it and it was back today. Unfortunately a search comes up with a zillion variations of the worm.

I also recently started to see GoogleCrash something or other exec in task manager, which I've deleted from my system along with their update program. I use their toolbar.

Never a dull moment.
