Yes, it's possible. Auroras are expected to be seen further south, although it's a small x-class.

Solar flares don't add heat. The threat is that the coronal mass ejection (CME) consists of high-energy particles that can disrupt satellite communications and in the extreme case terrestrial electric/electronic gear. This is called a 'geomagnetic storm'. All the reports I've read suggest minimal effect.

Maybe we'll have a nice aurora tomorrow night.
