Luetzelschwab had been doing research on radioactivity in soil, so his laboratory was well equipped to take data.

Here's an interesting and even-handed contemporary piece which mentions Luetzelschwab and the organization that Linda referenced, TMIA.

Indeed.

Pretty factual - interesting piece: "TMI Fact Frame and Fiction" - unusual perspective and analysis.

Not too shabby for a bunch of college folk !!

Actually, downright impressive. Amazed they could detect such low levels of radiation - barely above background - by a gnats hair.
