while I agree in general, there is much you can know because HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW.
That is exactly why HE gave you a BOOK recorded by holy men of old who spake as they were moved by God the Holy Spirit.
If it is recorded in the canon of scripture it is because God wants you wo know about HIM and what He thinks.
Here is a simple analogy for people who use rationale and feel good speak about homosexuality.
If GOD CONDEMNS something in the BIBLE (like homosexuality) HE does not CONDONE it.
If it is not acceptable by HIM in HIS WORD it is not acceptable just because Joe Bite Me and Barry Bot think it will get them the votes.
The important things for us to know about God He has told us both in the WORD AND in the PERSON of God the Son.
