Could have been a matter of RH not getting around to suing them? Ask Bob about lawsuits! What do I know, nothing!

But it is free to read anything there, like a real library, I suppose. But it costs minimum $5 (24 hr pass) to download unlimited books and other materials. And somehow I do wonder if copyright owners are sharing in the 'take.'

It wasn't available for free, Linda. You had to pay a fee to access it. That is what that wiki article points out - the NUMEROUS legal contracts/associations that SCRBD has with various PUBLISHING HOUSES.

Do you think for an iota of a second (rhetorical) that Random House et.al. would be using SCRBD to publish their e-books if it were not TOTALLY LEGIT ?

Hardly.

I don't post references just to be posting - I post them so that you can get correct information.
