...back years and years ago, there was a sailboat that didn't have any sails. It had a mast where the mainmast would be and inside the mainmast there were blades that would turn when the wind blew past them from any direction. The blades were connected to a drive shaft that went down the center of the mast and into a gearbox in the hold where the torque energy was converted to power for a drive shaft that turned a propeller at the rear of the boat and turned a small generator that made electricity for the electrical needs of the boat. It seemed most ingenious to me, but nothin ever became of it that I can determine.
