Here's a related comment from one of my fave 'prepper' blogs:

The night BHO was elected, I was most unhappy. But it was only when I saw the Dems getting a supermajority in the senate (which was only lost through extreme political malpractice of Barry, Nancy and Harry), I went in my daughter's room, and said, "Sorry, but the country's over." I still feel that way, but on her behalf, I feel an obligation to keep the hard, abrupt landing ahead ... less hard and abrupt. If that makes sense.

Romney was annointed like H.W. was annointed like Dole (Dull) was annointed, like W. was annointed, like McCain was annointed. But not for SCOTUS, I would almost prefer a BHO 2nd term. It will keep the tea party PO'd. With a GOP admin, there will be pressure to not rock the boat--right up until the betrayal. But SCOTUS appointments are for life, and the next one will tilt the court for the rest of my life, and a good chunk of my daughter's. I have to keep reminding myself of that. It takes work...

The inevitable BETRAYAL! I keep hoping that something will happen to keep Romney from the nomination...some kind of unrecoverable embarassment perhaps.

We're pretty much on the same page, Due. Hadn't read the post below before my previous .... 'what if' which is more than likely a 'probably will be' scenario.

Both avenues pretty much equally disastrous - and the Romney one could actually accelerate the 'what if' slide.
