Iran: a nuclear have or have-not?
Posted: 16 Mar 2012 03:59 PM PDT
There is now a general consensus among most NATO partners that Iran has a nuclear weapon. In its present construction it is not deploy able. The work at Parchin was for an atomic triggering device that would make a weapon more compatible with Iran’s still limited missile capabilities. Because of the older style nuclear technology being used the weapon is still too large for missile delivery. It is projected that Iran will have a fully usable nuclear weapon by the fall. This is consistent with IAEA reports and maybe why the US has suddenly decided to seek the Russian help to pressure Iran into complying with their nuclear demands. There are also indications that Iran is reconstructing a naval vessel to handle the launch of its larger missiles.
