I'm not sure that the Stratfor hack was in any way related to the DoS assault in opposition to SOPA/PIPA. I tend to doubt any linkage. Your list of possibilities betrays a disturbing ignorance, Linda.
Those who orchestrated the hacks last week did so as a gesture to preserve our freedom--specifically an open, uncensored internet. Unfortunately, the anonymous nature of the medium makes it a simple matter to co-opt the symbols and language of this 'movement'. You need to learn that the terms 'hack' and 'hacker' never had a negative bias in the tech community where a 'hack' refers to a clever bit of code modification, an elegant application of non-traditional methods, or a useful modification to an existing device or program. There are 'white-hat' hackers who are the good guys.
We have seen the enemy and it is us.
I don't give that warning I posted much credibility. The text hasn't been repeated in any other venue other than the .torrent peer-to-peer community.
Do try to refrain from formulating 'concerns' about topics where your knowledge is so sparse.
