What flavor camera? 500mm is a long lens! Maybe you can find a nice digital system that will accept it for the cost of the repair.
As for repairs, there's only one place I can recommend...have used 'em for decades. Mack Camera in Springfield, NJ. (My grandfather's business was next door.) They're honest, competent, but not particularly inexpensive. They'll do an estimate for $45.
Due, thanks. I don't know that I'll be using them any time soon, though, as my analog camera's laid up. THe electronics went crazy and I suspect it would be too much to fix it. Although, I wouldn't mind having my 500mm lens available if I wanted it...
