We, the world, had better get off oil for electric, highly optimize vehicles, or we'll be impoverished in no time. Of course drilling would help. In the future, for the most part, oil should go to agriculture, plastics, flight and the armed forces, if necessary.
I saw something blaming Libya for the high gas prices. If 1.6mbpd has that kind of impact, and I find it hard to believe yet wouldn't be surprised, we're in some sorry state.
