That is INCREDIBLE resolution for Satellite data. (sic. publicly available, even if commercial - vis a vis - military satellite imagery which reputedly has been able to read the brand name on a pack of cigs for well over a decade or two - unconfirmed and unconfirmable sourcing on that tidbit.)
I was unaware of GeoEye.
Definitely on my 'keeper' list - when I am working - this info is worth it's weight in gold.
Went to the NAIP mapping (upon which the USGS dataset is based) - and was APALLED at how poorly the servers are working now. Degraded to almost worthless from a little over 2 years ago. Surprise, surprise - bet their budget hasn't been cut any either.
