Well, I knew the Saudis threatened US with retaliation if we don't vote for statehood, but I was unaware until now that they threatened us publicly in the NYT on 9/11.
To me, publishing on 9/11 serves as a reminder that Saudi Arabia's a state sponsor of terror and al qaeda's is or was a military arm of the regime. I interpret and view this as a direct military threat against the United States. The message I hear, "if we did it once, we can do it again." Hello, Houston....

p.s., by not voting and getting it over with, the Arabs are going to turn the vote into a real fiasco. My suggestion, don't advertise when the vote will take place. Spring it to avoid prepared demoonstrations and attacks leading up to the vote.
