I don't know the history. Perhaps because law enforcement wasn't in a position to go to the source of illegal drugs -- armed militias in foreign states-- the states called for federal action, I don't know. One might argue it's a national security issue if the states can't handle it? Totally speculative.

I'm surprised you don['t want to toss it back to the states vs. make an illegaol act that causes street crime legal.

So, Linda you are in FAVOR of the freedoms and liberties that have been sacrificed upon the unholy "War On Drugs" altar ?

Do you know the full ramifications of that which has happened ? Can you enumerate and elaborate on which principles of the United States Constitution were thrown out the window in this so-called war - what the current ACCEPTED practices both in LE and the Courts are in this un-holy war - and reconcile those to U.S. Constitutional Principles ?

I am all ears, ma'am. More than willing to hear your reasonings and rationale - from a CONSTITUTIONAL standpoint, of course.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759 US author, diplomat, inventor, physicist, politician, & printer (1706 - 1790)

Although anecdotal - even this 'small exchange' should emphasize, again, that freedoms and liberties are NOT primarily sacrificed for 'economic gain' - as previously argued, but are EASILY sacrificed by initiating the appropriate, "State of Fear".

Works every time.

So to answer that which you considered nothing more than a rhetorical statement-question, Linda ...

You have to be kidding.

Absolutely not. Serious as a heart attack.
