Uglier, indeed. US should leverage Hamas' stand against statehood to kill it somehow.

The Saudis are driving the bid for statehood. Yes, exploiting it. I didn't know about the oil situation. This abandonmnet thing is big, regardless of fungibility.

Obama screwed us big time, alright. But wouldn't it have happened anyway when Mubarak kicks the bucket? Regardless, now it's our fault and solidifies their belief that the US is taking down the dictators (including them).

Shahzad explains the al qaeda Egyptian roots and how Marxism ties in. The bad guys are taking Egypt, they will have their terror state.

Goes a long way towards explaining the liberal-Islamist alliance, imo. I suspect most liberals don't realize they have been coopted by Marxists. Maybe they do. But the people-friendly social club aspect is really coopted by the dark side communist Left. Totalitarianism, bring down America, that's their creed. Create class warfare as they're setting up today. So much more. We're in deep trouble from the Communist takeover. Now we'll be in deep trouble from the Islamists (Saudi/Egyptian) using the communist model to infiltrate. Iran has its own set of problems.

I'm beginning to see the roots of that conspiracy to usher in Islam to the US that I discussed prior. Answering questions like how did the US government come to place a 9/11 memorial to Islamists, not to the heros that prevented them from brining down our seat of government in PA, an outdoor mosque. Done over objections of the 9/11 families, I might add. When it gets to this level, have to wonder how we can reverse it.

Saudi Arabia's exploitation of Palestinian UN bid
September 12, 2011
By Caroline Glick

The Saudis effectively ended their strategic alliance with the US in the aftermath of the US-supported overthrow of Hosni Mubarak. Since then the Saudis have strengthened their ties to China and Russia and from what I understand have refused to sign any new oil contracts with the Americans. Now in this oped in the New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/12/opinion/veto-a-state-lose-an-ally.html?_r=1 ), the Saudis are hitching a ride on the Palestinian UN bid to justify their previous abandonment of America.

As my readers are well aware, I think that the US's abandonment of Mubarak was one of the greatest strategic errors the US has ever committed. But of course, the Saudis can't play the populist/leader of the Muslim world card by opposing the mob in Cairo. And so they never announced their breach with their US patron, which in their mind had lost all credibility as an ally when it ditched Mubarak. But the Palestinians and the war against the Jews is the great populist issue in the Muslim world. And so, aside from everything else, the PLO's UN initiative gives the authoritarian likes of the Saudis a perfect excuse for publicly acknowledging their previous abandonment of the US.

Moreover, the increasingly anti-Jewish American Left will seize on the Saudi claim as proof that the US's alliance with the Jewish state is undermining America's standing in the Arab world.

Oh dear. Things are getting uglier and uglier.
