I like West, but it may be too soon for a presidential run for him. That he 'gets it' and has the 'guts' to speak out is testament to his military experience:

'The Preamble of the Constitution of the United States defines the Federal Government's role in "providing for the common defense" of our great country. It is not only the primary mission of our government, but the most important obligation our elected leaders have upon accepting the oath of office. As a 22-year Army Veteran who served in Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, and as a Civilian Advisor to the Afghan Army in Operation Enduring Freedom, I understand both the gravity of giving the order, and the challenge of carrying it out.

Make no mistake, we are a nation at war against a totalitarian theocratic political ideology that glorifies death rather than celebrating life. To defeat it, we must stay on the offensive. From Afghanistan and Iraq to the Greater Middle East and South America, radical Islam is on the march. And while our attention is focused on combating global terrorism, we must not forget other looming threats just on the horizon in China, North Korea, Venezuela, Russia & Iran. These nations and their leaders represent the biggest threat to our great nation.

As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I will work to shape and modernize America's Armed forces to ensure that we are prepared for the strategic challenges ahead. Like President Reagan, I believe that peace is best kept through a strong national defense.'

West on Israel:

'As unrest continues to envelop the Middle East, it is important – now more than ever – for the United States to remain steadfast and loyal to our greatest friend and ally in the region, the State of Israel. Israel has found itself under constant attack – both from our common enemy Radical Islam, as well as from the international community, who clearly views the State of Israel through the lens of anti-Semitism and hatred.

I am concerned that Israel – America's strongest and most loyal ally in the Middle East – has become more isolated and vilified since President Barack Obama's election than ever before in the history of the State. As a Member of the United States House of Representatives, I believe the United States Congress has a solemn duty to ensure that the homeland of the Jewish people remains as such. The State of Israel is the one bright light shining in a dark ocean of tyranny and oppression.

Israel must be allowed to defend itself from external and internal aggression; the Israeli people must be allowed to continue to build within their borders, and Jerusalem must be recognized as the nation's only capital. Furthermore, the United States must stand by Israel's side in the face of a United Nations who clearly has no backbone when it comes to standing up for the rights of Israel. Anything less than full support for Israel and its citizens at the United Nations by the United States government is simply unacceptable.

The United States and Israel share the common bonds of freedom, liberty, democracy, and the right to worship in the name of any religion you see fit. We share a common enemy in radical Islam, and have both seen our citizens murdered and maimed by terrorist thugs who kill women and children in the name of religion.

I am a proud member of the bipartisan United States Israel Allies Caucus, one of the few Congressional caucuses that is supported by a foundation, (the International Israel Allies Caucus Foundation). As your Representative in the United States Congress, I will always stand by the Jewish State of Israel, and be a strong advocate in the House of Representatives.

As a combat veteran who has faced our common enemy, my commitment to Israel will rise above mere statements of support.'

"The only Congressman to stand up and object was Allen West."

As I have mentioned before on this board. Allen West for president, one of the few who appear to get what is going on, or have the guts to say it.
