JMO,
but I don;t think Boise's offense is all that spectacular or ingenious.
They execute. Simple as that. Nothing tricky.
Georgia is over rated, simple as that. A speed team with a good O line and a decent defense will give Boise trouble, like when they play the real top 15 teams, such as Oklahoma, LSU at full strength, Alabama, etc....
Boise is a solid team, don't misunderstand. They simply struggles initially against a Georgia team that is a middle of the road to less than that SEC team.
I would like to see Boise up against some real competition day in and day out in a tough conference.
True, they have a decent O line and the QB is pretty good. I can make that argument about several teams though who play tough schedules all season long, something Boise has never done.
This is why I do not respect them as much as others.
When you go at it for eleven or twelve straight weeks against very tough teams, then we can see just how great these guys are, but for me, not until then.
Example. Penn State was considered a national powerhouse year after year when an independent.
They joined the Big Ten.
What happened after that? They played MANY tough teams week in and out and they always had a few losses put on them every season.
A tough grueling schedule and opposition will prover your mettle and wears on you. That is why when Alabama won it all a couple years ago they were very good, like Auburn was. Some of those USC teams when Pete Carrol was there were simply pro level teams. They played in a TOUGH conference and got seasoned and tested every single week.
Bama, Auburn Florida the same thing. Texas and Oklahoma Nebraska as well.
The Big Ten is power football and their offenses are not what the SEC brings to the table. They POUND the rock. They are physical and bruising and after a few weeks in a row you will soon know how your guys stack up.
Just saying, when you play the majority of your games in a weak conference like BOISE STATE does, and select a lower echelon over rated team to play like Georgia this past weekend, it doesn't prove anything about Boise other than they beat an over hyped Georgia team, who benefits from the over all quality of the premier football conference in the nation and gets more votes because of that.
When Boise goes through an SEC schedule for a season or a Big 12, Pac 10, BigTen schedule and remains undefeated, then we can talk about how good they really are. Right now, they play the little sisters of the poor every week and don;t get beat up like every other school in these conferences do.
Quite a difference imo.
TCU is moving to the Big East. There are a FEW good teams there but again, they are not a power football conference like the others. West Virginia is consistent but is no Alabama, Auburn, LSU, or Florida or Arkansas.
SO, if anything, TCU may add some strength to the Big East conference. But like the ACC, the Big East is NOT nearly as strong as those others.
Got to love College Football is BACK though. Some very intriguing games to watch this year. Ya just got to love it!
