Thanks for checking Linda!

Seems like it could have been much worse from what I have seen on television so you indeed caught some breaks. Good thing!

Yes the UPS question regarding under-voltages and also over-voltages. They will tend to "normalize those to within a range, as mine does.

That is the one device I would definitely put a UPS on.

Some people like them on their newer flat screen televisions. I never use one there and have never had ANY troubles with them.
The professor and I do not agree completely but that is okay.
Whatever works for you is all that matters and we are all different. In the case of your computer and because they tend to be pretty sensitive to voltage fluctuations, a UPS is highly recommended. I would get an APC and either a 750 Volt Amp or 1000 Volt amp rated one.
That should protect that pc very nicely.

Take care and good to hear from you!

Hi folks, we got our electric and phone back this afternoon. Water stayed on. Couple of trees down in the back, tall ones with shallow roots. Fortunately, the one directly behind us fell the other way, over a walking path and crushing a chain link fence. the trees out front everyone thought would fall were as solid as rocks.

My computer said it had low voltage when I tried to boot it up, so I left it off for a time. Seems ok. Is that something a UPS would buffer? I assume so...

Close call for my two fish, which are 25 years old. One managed to scrape his side, he must have been struggling to get under the wrong log. He looks fine, but you never know. I threw some antibiotics in there. Hopefully, it doesn't go south. I have a battery-powered dohickey to put O2 into the water, but the water temps an issue. Took some doing to get the room warmer to keep the tank temp up.

You wouldn't believe the aftermath of this storm. Not sure what the temp was, but it was so cold I needed to put a warm jacket on Sunday night. Ya see, I woke up and looked out the back sliding glass door at 1AM and saw a couple of lights over the trees off in the distance to the north. Further examination revealed a star-studded sky. It was gorgeous, the best sky I can recall here in NY. Crystal clear, cold night, low light from humans, what could be better. Still not as impressive as the white band of the Milky Way I once saw half way between Phoenix and the Grand Canyon, but I think I might have seen the faint edges of it, if it goes East-West. just beautiful, at any rate. So many stars. God does awesome work, eh?

I'm sorry to report we did lose the ice cream.
