Heh, that looks good! I have everything except ice, in the way of food and water. We could last a month, I think. And on ice, I likely don't need any more. I just brought in the cooler from the garage and it has one of those ice packs in the lid. I'm making, not buying ice and have a bunch of the smaller ice packs in the freezer already. That's a relief, don't want to waste gas.
I was looking for my father's axe yesterday and couldn't find it, so, I'm going to Lowes and Home Depot today to see if they have any left. I have a saw somewhere, but it's buried in my storage place, which is so packed I'll likely not be able to find it.
So I do have a couple of last minute things to do today.
Couple of tips, not that you're not prepared, but perhaps others will read too:
- Fill bath tub even if you have utility water. I discovered our but seal isn't good, so I am filling pepsi bottles and putting them in the tub for toilet use. As luck would have it in the cycle of returning bottles, I have a couple of trash bags full.
- Do not go outside for several reasons -- a simple roof shingle could cut off your head. And, most of all, you can't hear. So if a tree limb's breaking off, you won't hear it until you see it about to hit you.
- Prepare a bag in case the building becomes structurally unsound for one reason or another. Literally pack to go away, including meds, toothpaste, clothes, etc. I'm putting our bags in a cart in the middle of the house so it can go out the front or back doors. Can bring the car out and roll our stuff right to it.
Breaking News MSNBC: Man in N.C. killed outside his home by tree limb blown down by Irene.
I am hoping I can get the garage door to open on manual. How creepy that the car could be stuck in the garage! Not to mention the tree could fall on it!
Good luck!
