No direct hits in 'Jersey since 1903. Worst in terms of rainfall was Floyd in '99 with over 13".

Diane in '55 caused intense flooding on the Delaware. High water mark is still shown on the cliffs.

We used to have direct hits of 80 MPH hurricanes in the 60's, but rarely since, which is leading some to think we're due. We have had some go by and dump rain, but I don't recall any of those hurricanes dumping ten inches. I wasn't paying attention to that. We used to go to the beach in the hurricanes, the men would carry up the boats and we'd all pitch in and carry the float up the path into the parking lot so it woouldn't be swept away.
