McCarthy is not advocating Romney in any way, shape, or form ... he is simply using Romney's response to highlight Federalism ... and I agree with him. Leftist zeal for an all-powerful federal government means the concept of Federalism needs to be destroyed. The Constitution stipulates that the federal government is limited to its enumerated powers and the rest falls to the states, but statists desire cookie-cutter-uniformity (their idea of uniformity, of course!) across all 50 states. So, if a state decides how an issue will be dealt with inside its borders, the statists use their notion of federal government to determine if the state's decision passes muster with leftist ideology or not. If a state wants its law enforcement officers to verify the status of anyone detained on other charges within the state to see if their very presence inside the state is even lawful or not, which is a big political NO-NO for statists keen on garnering the illegal alien vote, then the federal government attempts to stomp all over that state's ability to make its own laws. If a state wants to confer matrimonial rights on same-sex relationships, which is favored under leftist ideology, then the federal government does nothing or may even find ways to applaud the decision and suggest that other states should follow suit. That isn't Federalism ... that's simply an attempt to apply an arbitrarily biased right-of-first-refusal for the federal government that enables statists to quash the constitutional rights of the states. Leftists are always loud-and-proud in their promotion of "diversity" ... well then, they should be supportive of Federalism whereby over 300 million people across 50 very different states would reflect their true diversity in how they handle the issues of the day. If you don't like the way your state deals with the issue of abortion, okay ... either work through proper channels to change your state's laws or, if it's important enough to you, leave for another state that's more compatible with your viewpoint. However, this kind of diversity is not acceptable with statists ... because it interferes with their desire to have cookie-cutter control over everyone else.
