That question has spawned yet another.

Can a sitting President remove, FIRE, a Federal Judge?
How about a Supreme Court Justice?

Is there any remedy to remove an incompetent Supreme?

Inquiring minds want to know! Smile

TIA,

An Inquiry about a Constitutional Balanced Budget Amendment!

In the past, the courts have taken "activist" roles when it comes to Interpreting and or implementing what they say the Constitution says. For example, from the sixties there were problems with some schools in the South and later on in the North when they were perceived as "dragging their feet" when it came to integrating the schools. My inquiry is regarding the balanced budget amendment and whether or not we could find ourselves in a situation where a panel of liberal judges appointed for life were making budget decisions about which programs could be cut and which ones not cut?

Im not saying this would happen, but could it happen? Would you be happy with the folks on the court from the left deciding how much our military should get or how much in taxes someone should pay? I can see all sorts of unpleasant scenarios here. Writing this amendment would have to be done very carefully and spell out in explicit detail exactly who handles the purse strings.

Just a bit concerned here. I still support the notion of a balanced budget amendment.
