Still in the process of emerging, mon. It's now quite easy to add touch capacity to displays--an offshoot of smartphone and tablet development. Touchscreen in large displays will await architectural applications as the typical viewing distance for bigger screens is greater than one's reach.

Next ubiquitous tech are heads-up display in cars. See Microvision's latest press releases as they have the best technology for this application.

I'm still waiting for wearable (direct retinal) displays--initially eyeware and ultimately contacts--to hit the market.

Neat Vid, Due.

Been a while since I researched the issue of 'touch screens' - but haven't seen any 'huge' announcements where I was hoping to see them.

Perhaps you have. The need is for 'digitizing' touch capability - the screens exist already - can't remember the 'brand name', there's only one or two different ones - and they are goshdurn expensive. Accuracy - less than 1/100th of an inch, if memory serves.

I do have a need for such a screen - the 'normal touch' screen is just way too loose - too large an area, not nearly enough accuracy. Two-three pixel accuracy is desired, but up to 5 pixel accuracy would be workable.

19+ inch screen size is also pretty much a 'must have' (23-27 would be better) - the bigger the better - and sub $1k in price.

Have you seen anything like this - or heard of any on the drawing boards ?

IOTW: The old-style high precision digitizing tablets - with the 'Corning' Display of the vid. *w*
