When WWII ended the US economy tanked in a deep recession.

I think if you look closely, you will find the RP believes that a strong military is vitally important...for defense, not 'nation building'.

Here's Ron and Rand on military budget cuts:

As usual - give me cogitatin' time. There is still a lot of truth in what I state about the electability of Ron Paul - but I continue to listen.

Not sure if THIS is the video that pissed me off so greatly the first time through - I don't think it was - but it very well may have been.

It didn't piss me off this time - The attack in this speech is SPECIFICALLY directed at 'special interests' that control U.S. Foreign Policy - and that is the correct target.

There IS a mistake though - I glaring one - where 'war and military spending is ALWAYS destructive to the economy' @1:22 - not true. Military spending can and DOES protect the economy - not 'always destructive to it'. Pearl Harbor, Mr. Paul ? War and Military Spending are, at times, necessary - or no economy would exist. Sorry - poorly thought out Mr. Paul - good sounding words for Pacificists. Yeah - I know - the Ron Paul meme that ALL wars are the result of OUR 'special interest groups' doing evil things.

This one is another 'election killer'. He may be absolutely correct - but that really doesn't matter.

Mr. Paul - for what reason does the Federal Government exist AT ALL ?

I would argue, based on the Constitution, that 99% of the 'reason' is based totally on a Military that will protect this Nation from Foreign Aggressors - and that the 'other' reasons/Constitutional authorities of the 'Government' pale in comparison to that.

Get rid of EVERYTHING 'Federal' EXCEPT for the Military.

That is something that I could not only 'live with' - but could full heartedly support.

Mr. Paul could not/would not - if his words are taken literally that '.... military spending is ALWAYS destructive to the economy.'

Out of context ? No, not at all.
