micro, yeah, good idae to download it. Stupid MSFT device manager change driver doesn't look on the web, but tells you to load the old cd.

What ever happened to Apple's approach. Now that they're a success again, they should go for it.

I don't do aut updates, either. More often than not, I find when they want you to upgrade, things start going wrong.

Linda,

Go to your sound card manufacturers website and download the driver from there for it!

Thenit will work.

NEVER download drivers for hardware devices from microsoft. They are generic at best.

Also, unless an update is for a security thing, don't install all the other mountains of crapware either.

I NEVER let microsoft do "automatic updates". I choose what I want to update and WHEN I want to do that, AFTER looking at what is available.

This approach will save you lots of headaches.
