Hi micro,

I'm jumpin' in here a little late 'cuz I just got back into town, but here are my two cents worth ...

I sincerely hope we never have to reach this point, but if armed insurrection by the American people against a tyrannical federal government takes place, I believe the American military's response will depend on the timing and prevalence of the uprising. In the initial stages, if the armed insurrection is highly localized and the groups of Americans participating are relatively small ... so that the uprising can be generalized as the work of a few "extremists" not representative of the will of the majority of the American people ... then I believe the American military will obey orders and attempt to put it down. And, yes ... under these circumstances ... if fired upon, I expect the military would initially treat these American revolutionaries as combatants, rather than just wayward citizens, and fire back. However, I believe such skirmishes, where American blood is spilled by Americans, would increasingly have a profound effect on the men and women of the American military ... an effect that could serve to alienate many, if not most, of them against the federal government ... especially if the insurrection rapidly gains steam with a larger number of Americans across the nation.

In my mind, the single most important attribute of American military success over the history of our nation is the independent thinking of our military personnel. For the most part, American soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen are stubborn but sensible free-thinkers who quickly analyze battlefield problems ... many times while the world is exploding all around them ... and innovatively, bravely, and decisively take action to eliminate the obstacles in their way to save their buddies and complete the mission on behalf of the American people. While such free-thinkers certainly have existed and do exist in the militaries of other nations, I believe this individual trait is far more prevalent in the U.S. military than in most other militaries, which makes U.S. military personnel much less likely to become unthinking automotons.

The vast majority of U.S. military personnel are highly intelligent people who are not oblivious to what is going on in our country. They are aware, as are we, whether a POTUS and his administration honors The United States Constitution and the inalienable rights of the American people or not. My contacts within the U.S. military tell me that Barack Hussein Obama is currently held in very low regard by a large majority of U.S. military personnel. If the Obama Administration and its extreme, leftist pals in Congress were to continue to assert their ongoing plans to subrogate the individual rights of American citizens in favor of bureaucratic control by federal government to such an extent that a more popular, widespread armed insurrection by the American people were to ensue in response ... well ... I believe a large majority of U.S. military personnel would ultimately join the American people against the federal government. Question is ... how long will this take and how much blood will be spilled in the process? There definitely is a reason why the earliest leaders of the American Revolution are considered some of our greatest heroes - they took the greatest risk.

Regards,

B.

Due,
I have a question that has bothered me a long time now and perhaps you guys, Beldin and Professor and yourself, may have some thoughts on this.

Were the PEOPLE of this country to rise up in rebellion, revolution over this continual downward tyrannical socialist government, and God forbid, but we rise to the point of necessity of bearing arms and marching to Washington for the purpose of overthrowing this tyrannical government and beginning anew again,
what would the soldiers in the military do?

Would they violate their oaths and fire on U.S. citizens? This has intrigued me for a long time as to what our military forces may actually do if the citizens of this country actually said "enough is enough, if they will not listen to we the people, the the people need to effect change" and decided to march on Washington?

I could not fire on civilians. Would we be considered civilians? If not, the only thing the dictator in charge could brand us would be enemy combatants, which reveals his true self, even to the military.

Interesting thing to consider is it not?

Tia,

micro...
