Did you all know that a Hyundai Elantra, a compact car a tad smaller than his bigger brother the Sonata, is RATED at 40 MPG and it is NOT a hybrid vehicle?

I know some people who bought one and told me that the HIGHWAY mileage they get is 44 MPG on trips with the cruse control on.

WHY would ANYONE pay extra money for a hybrid, whose mileage is not much better and you will eventually have to pay to have the battery packs replaced at a lot of expense?

Guess what I am looking at as a secondary car for mrs. micro to drive around here and for us to take a road trip with?

Of course, the bigger brother Sonata only gets 36 MPG with its direct injected engine and 6 Spped automatic tranny. This is one sweet car in style and ride. I test drove it. The Elantra is a smooth ride also.

Now, when are the rest of the car makers going to start getting their Mileage up with Hyundai's without HYBRID crapola?

Hybrid means MORE MAINTENANCE costs in case anyone was wondering. The more parts there are there is more to go wrong. And again, the replacements aren't cheap.

Just thought I would throw this out for discussion if anyone was interested.
