The aircraft was built by the three partners to test the hybrid electric drive concept. In the future, the technology, which is intended for later use also in large-scale aircraft, will cut fuel consumption and emissions by 25 percent, compared to today's most efficient aircraft drives.
An electric motor powered by a Wankel rotary, with an extra on-board battery pack needed to get the blasted thing airborne ... if'n youze wants ta fly in such a contraption, by all means, go right on ahead .... without me, thank you very much.
No, it does NOT currently cut 'consumption and emmissions by 25%' as purported by the greenie-weenie auto-blog - which deliberately misquoted the attached press release.
Still on the drawing boards - concept not yet proven.
