what would the soldiers in the military do?

micro- In that desperate scenario, I believe the military would be divided just as would be the citizenry. Some would remain loyal to the oppressive regime and others would join the revolt. The loyalist military would fire upon civilians with impunity much as looters are reflexively shot in a disaster scenario. A hostile, armed citizen would not be considered to be a 'civilian', but rather would be classed as a 'criminal'.

I also believe that the situation would devolve rapidly into complete chaos as the electrical grid fails and supermarket shelves empty.

Pray we never get there.

Due,
I have a question that has bothered me a long time now and perhaps you guys, Beldin and Professor and yourself, may have some thoughts on this.

Were the PEOPLE of this country to rise up in rebellion, revolution over this continual downward tyrannical socialist government, and God forbid, but we rise to the point of necessity of bearing arms and marching to Washington for the purpose of overthrowing this tyrannical government and beginning anew again,
what would the soldiers in the military do?

Would they violate their oaths and fire on U.S. citizens? This has intrigued me for a long time as to what our military forces may actually do if the citizens of this country actually said "enough is enough, if they will not listen to we the people, the the people need to effect change" and decided to march on Washington?

I could not fire on civilians. Would we be considered civilians? If not, the only thing the dictator in charge could brand us would be enemy combatants, which reveals his true self, even to the military.

Interesting thing to consider is it not?

Tia,

micro...
