The double meaning of the words, imo, is the most consistent and sensible explanation for the actual words. The doubling of the first word makes sense in that context, and also makes sense on why the other words would not need doubling - being redundant of the first point.
That explanation also maintains the integrity of the Scripture - not requiring a 'well, this is what was REALLY written' type of conjecture.
The prophesy of Daniel fits perfectly with those three words - when the double meaning of the words is exposed.
