Speaking of wire rope...

Around here when one thinks of wire rope one thinks of Roebling. John Roebling pioneered its manufacture and use here in the USA and famously built this:

We have a smaller Roebling suspension bridge nearby--built in 1904 across the Delaware at Riegelsville. It's a beauty in its own right:

Exploring for tensegrity toroids, I found Jakob AG, a wire rope company that truly understands the capability of its product line. Here's the tensegrity ceiling construction in their new offices:

Since I do everything more than a bit 'funky' using cheap materials I consider the stuff around here as 'models' for pieces I would make if I had the funds. Jakob's stainless steel catalogs make me drool.
