Micro, yes, the F16 looks like a good plane, although it's only got one engine and most, I think are one pilot. Smaller, lighter. F14 out thrusts it at 54,000 lbs vs 27,000 lbs. I wonder if they match up on low speed. F14 speed range and thrust might make it more formidible, but perhaps weapons systems reduce that advantage these days.

F-14 was multi-use, not so much a fighter.

Linda,
In my younger days as a mechanical engineer, I worked on the F-16 Fighters.

For aerial combat versus other jets that is the one I would want to be in. It IS more maneuverable than the F-14. And, BTW, there is much I cannot discuss about this aircraft also.

Yes, the Navy uses the F-14 and it was used in Iraq but as Due pointed out already, so were the F-15 and F-16 Fighting Falcon of the USAF.

I would put it up against Migs any day of the week.
