Can vouch for the F15 being chief amongst those aircraft - Lil bro of mine was in there from the very first 'mission over Baghdad'.

BTW: That was the ONE and ONLY time that he, or anyone else for that matter, saw ANY of the vaunted 'Iraqi Mig Air Arsenal' ... and it was such a 'quick view' - he and his wizzo had no time to react, pursue, and shoot the suckers down. Those a-holes were BUGGING OUT - big time - straight to Iran.

Remember that the next time Iran 'brags' about their 'vaunted Air Force'.

Typical of that society - when confronted with forces of equal or great strength (that they recognize as being equal or greater) - their TRUE colours show - yellow to the core. Like all bullies.

want to explain why it was F-14s that went into Iraq to deliver shock and awe?

Who sez?

As I recall, there was a mix of Navy, Marine and Air Force aircraft in the fight--F-14, F-15 and F-16 fighters among 'em.
