This coming Monday is June 6th…D-Day. A day when thousands of Americans would risk or even lose their one life…for their country. The average age was about 25, but many of those men were barely, if even, 21 years old.
June 6 also happens to be Nathan Hale’s birthday.
Born June 6, 1755, he indeed was barely 21 years old when he was hanged for spying on the British. On September 22, 1776 he stood upon the gallows and proclaimed: “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”
The men who fought and died on June 6, 1944, and on every other day in every other war our country has fought, were fighting and dying to PRESERVE freedom…Nathan Hale was fighting to ACHIEVE freedom.
And now we are in age when all the freedoms Nathan Hale sought to achieve, and all those young men storming the beaches of Normandy sought to preserve are under constant attack:
- Freedom from illegal search & seizure (Indiana Supreme Court ruled that citizens do NOT have a right to resist police officers who go into their home illegally)

Why do the enemies of freedom believe NOW is the time for a full on assault on our liberties? Because those enemies of freedom, knowing how splendidly America’s youth have defended freedom in the past, set about co-opting that youth in the 1970s…and continuing today.

They’ve had 40 years…and though it has happened slowly, it is peaking now. Now our youth are being TAUGHT that America is the oppressor of the world, that America is the main contributor to the planet’s problems, and that America is NOT “special”. They are being TAUGHT that economic “freedom is slavery”, and that Marx’s credo “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” is GOOD! They are shown alGore’s bullcrap-science film in school and told NOT to question it! They are TAUGHT that America “occupies” California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. And so on…
How successful has this “teaching” been? In a recent poll a vast majority of America’s youth rejected the notion that they owed ANYTHING to America…in fact they believe America owes THEM. Nor could they answer the simplest questions about America’s founding.
Our youth has deliberately been dumbed down, and de-motivated. Why? So that they will either not see the erosion of liberty happening…or perceive it as no big deal if they do.
Nathan Hale didn’t know freedom was a “big deal” on June 6, 1755, when he was born. But he damn sure knew it on September 22, 1776, when he died. As did the men who waded ashore on June 6, 1944, through murderous fire.
