Actually, I didn't have to try it again. Problem was another email came in after the first. You have to use the last code they assign. I'm in.

It finally came in (only one, that's all I need)

When I click on their new email address verification link, I get:

Verify Your Email Address

You've requested to change your email to [my new email addr]. Please confirm your email address by entering the confirmation code in the box below and clicking 'Verify'.

I do so, doing a cut and paste of the verification code from THEIR email and it says

"Invalid authorization code for changing the email. Your email cannot be changed at this time."

I will try the WHOLE change process one more time, that's it.
