Get real! It wasn't intended as derogatory. Originally a battle-cry, 'Geronimo!' has become a classic utterance--a true cliche shouted for such purposes as skydivers exiting the aircraft and fat kids doing a 'cannonball' into the pool.

It's really a shame they're so paranoid. It's an honor, not a slur.

"...Geronimo as the courageous leader... the use of his name honors him and links him to the courage of the Navy SEALS who carried out the operation . . . Geronimo was an Apache leader around the turn of the century who was on of the last of his tribe to surrender to the U.S. He was widely feared..."

update: Given this:

"The President only knew the mission was successful after the Navy Seals commander heard the word “Geronimo” on the radio, a code word from commandos reporting that they had killed bin Laden."

I rescind the above. It was derogatory, imo.
