Hitler? No, he didn't come to mind.

re: Libya, did the Arabs not invite us to protect the Libyan people? I understand Turkey was even looking to take over leadership from the French when Obama was looking to take us out or down to a lower profile.

Are you thinking the Arabs/Turks were engaging in deception to lure us into a hot war by turning on us if we went after the Libyan CIC/dictator? Well, the people of Libya are currently attacking Western embassies and such and the UN pulled out, so the attack did nothing positive for us, that's for sure. Your post about it possiby being a sham's an interesting development. That would be consistent with past Palestinian acts.

Are you sure we're not already in WW III? Not our choice, but we were attacked by the Arabs/Saudis on 9/11 and the Iranians invited us to Islam, justifying war against us in their book (because we did not accept) and certainly they're engaged in proxy wars against us. And look at the miserable state Europe's in, not to mention the stealth war within the US.

Sure seems like the ME thinks they're at war with us. But of course your concern is the proxy wars going hot and the risk of the oil shutting down and Israel bearing the brunt, I presume. Very valid concerns. I was not in favor of going into Libya, btw, although there could be bigger picture rationals I can't envision at the moment.

Shifting to Iran, given all the revolutions, could it be the Ayatolla is concerned Iran has gone to far and their risk profile's for counter-revolution's rising? Perhaps this is why Ahmadinejad has disappeared from view for the moment? Of course his maneuvering and consolidating power culminating with firing the head of their spy agency are factors.

Yes. International law expressly forbids this, and please spare me the analogy with Hitler. NATO's stated mission is the protection of Libyan citizenry and this cannot be accomplished with weapons that have a broad and indiscriminate effect.

You and I know that the real mission is European control of Libyan oil and gas, even if it means that their government is handed over to the Islamist rebels.

This is the leading edge of World War III, Linda. If it can be stopped, it should be...before it's too late.
