Three officers from the Wilmington Police Department were shot while reacting to a call on Wednesday night.
The Delaware officials were dispatched for service when someone opened fire, hitting three of them, the department announced in a statement. The shooter began firing inside an apartment located nearby, according to NBC 10, a local affiliate. The officers' identities have not been released.
Each officer was brought to the hospital and is now in stable condition. Police have explained that the situation remains “under active investigation.” There was heavy police attendance during the night and into the morning as they tried to restrain and arrest the suspected shooter.
