It has taken perhaps a bit longer than some would have liked but make no mistake, the months-long compliance by most Americans to follow the nationwide shutdown in response to the coronavirus is quickly being replaced by growing defiance.
At the heart of this change is the fact the initial doom-and-gloom predictions of millions of deaths has fallen far short. On the surface that’s a very good things of course but as that reality set in more and more began to question how wrong and how manipulative those earlier claims proved to be. An entire nation was scared into giving up so much and now that nation is asking a particularly pertinent question:
WHY?
Why mandate lockdowns, close businesses, prevent travel, and initiate panic for a virus that now appears to be no deadlier than the common flu? (Some suggest its in fact LESS deadly than the flu because, with but for a few outlier exceptions, it poses so little risk to the young and/or healthy.)
Millions of jobs could be lost. Businesses closed. Lives and families irreparably damaged all because the media and politicians demanded it to be so.
Will voters make these doom-and-gloom elitists pay come the November elections?
We shall see but for now there is no doubt the war drums of discontent are beating loudly from coast to coast…

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
