The new to the boat metal I used was almost rust free. I wire brushed the whole thing and treated the metal with thew rust converter which finished it off and created a paintable surface, then used Rustoleum paint. NO WAY I could afford powder coating. I would lose money on this.......... Like working on those POS Subaru's LOL

Captain.
It looks nice.

However as a finishing expert, I would recommend sand blasting the frame, blow off with clean and dry compressed air all the dust, take it to be powder coated with a good epoxy primer at 2 - 3 mils thickness and topcoated witha Black Super durable powder at whatever gloss level you like. The trailer will now resist corrosion and pass over 3,000 hours of salt spray and stand up to the marine environment.. Just makes it last longer and look good a lot longer...
