I don't believe the President has the authority to adjourn congress . . .
Though he does have the Constitutional authority to call congress into session.
And, from what I read of the article, I suspect the demoncarpers are,
most of them, going on 'vacation' while the remainder pretend congress
is in session.
So, if I was Trump, next time the congress drops a 'monster bill' on
his desk and the leadership leaves town . . . I'd call congress back
into an 'emergency session' . . . And round up all the critters they
can find. Assembly them, and then tell them "They Ain't enough of Y'all
here to be playing congress. Congress is NOT in session."
Then promptly sign all those 'interim appointments' the scoundrels have
been holding up.
And, when the congress does show up, assemble them and drop that monster
bill on the table. Tell them "This is not a bill . . and YOU are going to
start voting on what is in it. Show of hands . . " And have one of his
minions start by reading one of the more obnoxious earmarks and make the
ocngress vote whether or not to pass each and every little bitty piece of it.
Ought to take at least a month, non-stop.
And during that month the Presidents minions ought to be able to get a
LOT of real work done.
