Re: "Quite a few are starting their gardens. I built a small one yesterday"
Well done! Now you'll have to learn how to manage the crops. What I'm referring to is figuring out how long it takes various things to ripen, and when you should pick them. Lettuce, for instance, grows pretty fast. If you find that you've got all the lettuce coming in at the same time, then you won't know what to do with it all and you probably will let some of it sit. But, I found last year that when I did that, the lettuce turned bitter. When I picked it late, it was inedible. Some varmint ended up eating it all.

What you (and I) need to do is to plant some things repeatedly so that we get a few of them every so often and don't get overwhelmed.

After that, our challenge will be to get everything canned. The eventual goal should be to ensure that we have plenty to eat in the winter and spring, not in the summer and fall when vegetables are abundant.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

And it crtazy around here the dump trucks I see dumping good dirt at peoples house. Quite a few are starting their gardens. I built a small one yesterday, Will have green beans along the back '5 kinds of leafy lettuce, next row green onions and the front row cucumbers. I put cabbage plants in big containers and can move all of this and keep it in the sun. My lil garden is on a low boy trailer and I can move it around as well.........

The garlic and shallots Hydro sent me are doing great!!! I will never by garlic again LOL. I planted a couple hundred he sent me.
