So says a just-published article in the New England Journal of Medicine by none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In the report Dr. Fauci now argues that the mortality rate of the coronavirus may be much closer to a very bad flu.
“If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 196
rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.2″
Here’s the thing.
Authorities have known for weeks the likely outcome that the coronavirus is not nearly as serious of a threat as the much-overblown original reports suggested. From the cruise ship statistics, to South Korea, and even Italy, the same scale of the virus has been rather easily determined and none of those examples, not a single one, justifies the significant panic that has been so aggressively pushed by media and political figures alike.
Every public health issue should be taken seriously but panic is not serious so much as potentially very damaging and yet panic is exactly what has been served up to people here in America and elsewhere. And that panic campaign continues even as experts like Dr. Fauci are signalling the coronavirus is likely nothing more than a case of a bad flu. Some will get sick. Some will die. JUST. LIKE. THE FLU
Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
