I just went looking through past datums . . .
Back around 2008, 2009 . . .
Pfizer (PFE) cut their dividend in half.
General Electric (GE) cut their dividend by about two thirds.
I lost my butt in two financial type stocks with tickers
of PNC and ACAS.
But most of my money back then was in power companies. They
did OK. No dividend cuts. I also owned some Heinz(HNZ),
McCormick (MKC), Clorox (CLX), Proctor and Gamble (PG) . . .
I sold out of GE a few years later. But I still have Pfizer.
Buffet bought Heinz out from under me . . .

I think it was GE and PFE that cut their dividends on me.
And some bank stock I owned some of at the time. (The bank
did a reverse split then got 'owned' by something else.
fortunately it was a small bit player in my portfolio.)
Dividend wise I didn't do all that bad in 2008.
I hear you on the 'rich and infamous' screwing the little
guys every which way but loose. But, at least with the
dividends and 'qualified dividends' I can make money with
a smaller tax bite - just like 'they' can.
