We regret to inform you the elderly socialist from Vermont is at it again, this time praising the Castro regime's literacy program:
Josh Kraushaar ~ In "60 Minutes" interview, Sanders goes out of his way to praise elements of Castro's reign of Cuba.
"We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but it's unfair to say everything's bad. When Castro came into office you know what he did? He had a literacy program."
1. Ah, Bernie ... you're only opposed to authoritarian regimes that YOU do not control, ya silly lil' Communist.
2. "When Castro came into office ..." - really, Bernie? Ya mean when Castro murdered and destroyed thousands upon thousands of lives to seize control over the Cuban people, right? Good grief.
3. A literacy program? Oh goody! Hey, everybody ... guess what? You and your children will now live destitute lives of abject desperation without any personal freedom, BUT we're gonna provide you with a literacy program!

Cory Morgan ~ Literacy is always a good thing in a totalitarian dictatorship.
You want to be able to read those 50 year old books donated to the prison library as you do your 15 year stint for being critical of the state.
David Wolpe ~ Every dictator has done good things. I'm sure the thousands of political prisoners and executed rivals were grateful for the uptick in literacy.
Charles C. W. Cooke ~ Also: "Came into office" is a euphemism for the ages.

The essential American soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer. It has never yet melted. ~ D.H. Lawrence
