I'm pretty sure warren buffet would have bought out all 'horse turds'
shares when he bought me (and everybody else) out.
Back in June 2013.
I find myself wondering . . if buffet had not bought Heinz, would
it have continued to be a money making dividend paying machine.
I also wonder if buffet (or some partners in the venture) didn't
gut Heinz then spin off the wreckage. Or maybe, thinking they
could net a Yuge profit - they paid too much for it then found
out they couldn't recoup nearly as much profit as they thought.
And broke it trying.
At any rate, HNZ took a big jump when buffet bought it. I started
buying in 2000 . . . In 2002 They swapped some stuff with Del
Monte and I got Del Monte stock (plus my HNZ).
I had $12,500 cost basis in it in 2013 when buffet bought it. The
check was $21,851. Add in about $3300 in dividends And my total
return was about $25,169.
The rule of 72 - 72 divided by 13 years gives me about a 5.5 %
return. Which is low-balling it as it was in a Direct Stock
Purchase plan and I bought more over the years.
Over all I'm happy with how my HNZ turned out. (Big Gapital Gain
to pay taxes on . . . but nice profit.)
